Escape to God by Jim Hohnberger

Do you really want to walk with God? Then this book is a must read!
In fact it gets better with each reading.

This book is more than an interesting story. Much more. It is not an exaggeration to say that the concepts presented in Escape to God are revolutionary. The principle of soul-surrender will inspire and challenge you to the very core of your being. But if you're hungry for authentic Christian living and desperate for God to do a new thing in your life, you're ready for what this book has to say.

"The Christian life is not made up of doctrines, creeds, reforms, or church membership. It is not even made up of beliefs, but rather the Christian life is a bundle of choices. When God brings a truth or light to our understanding, it always comes with a choice. We must choose to submit to the will of God or refuse. When God has all of my known choices, then He has me."

"In the early days of the Christian church, our religion was strong and vital. It changed lives so completely that people stood in awe. It was a religion with power."

"The great plaque in Christianity is that few-very, very few-of those who claim to be Christians (very, very few even among those who are ministers), possess a gospel capable of transforming their whole life."

"It is when the world sees us being saved in the present rather than just saved from our past that our lives will demonstrate that we have the power of God rather than just a form of godliness."

"The last great step to being a true Christian is a cultivated distrust of self and an equally cultivated dependency upon God. We may have all the trappings of Christianity, but even when no one else can see, we know that we do not possess the power over self that a surrendered and subdued spirit brings into the live."

Is there someone in your life who really bugs you?

Are you forced-by family relationships or by other circumstances-to try to maintain close ties with this person?

Chances are he or she is what Joyce Landorf calls your "irregular person" -that person who is blind, deaf, and mute to your deepest needs, no matter how hard you try to communicate.

In this book, Joyce Landorf writes out of the crucible of her own personal experience to help you:

  • understand the nature of your irregular person-why he or she behaves in that maddening way
  • develop strategies for coping
  • handle negative emotions such as anger, frustration, and bitterness
  • keep forgiveness and reconciliation active in your life

If your irregular person is breaking your heart with insensitivity and rejection, Irregular People points the way to spiritual and emotional healing.

We all have irregular people in our lives. This book will give you insights as to how you can relate to and deal with them. My wife and I have found it very helpful.

The author apparently does not correctly understand the Biblical view of the "state of the dead" - what happens to one when he dies and where he goes. Here are some references on this subject: 1 Corinthians 16:51-55, Genesis 2:7, Genesis 3:9, Ezekiel 18:4, Ecclesiastes 3:20; 12:7; 9:5, 6, Psalm 104:26-29; 146:4; 115:17, John 11:11-14, 1 Corinthians 15:16-18, Luke 14:13, 14.

In addition to the issue of the "state of the dead", many are also unaware that Saturday, the 7th day of the week, is the Bible Sabbath and not Sunday, the 1st day of the week. See Genesis 2:1-3 Exodus 20:8-11, Deuteronomy 5:12-15, Isaiah 56:1-6; 58:13, 14; 66:22-24, Matthew 24:20, Acts 17:2, John 14:15, Revelation 12:17; 14:12; 22:14.

But, this book is a must read regardless!
